Intrinsic initiates Barricaid registry study with Charite, Univ of Innsbruck and others

October 01, 2015

The Lighthouse registry initiative is part of Intrinsic's stepwise, evidence-based introduction of the Barricaid® Anular Closure treatment. A group of globally prominent spine clinics has joined forces in screening all their lumbar discectomy patients for anular closure eligibility.

Charité Berlin, University of Innsbruck, DONAUISAR Clinic Deggendorf and others work to evaluate what is addressable patient population for anular closure. The goal is to access the opportunities to adopt this new treatment standard. The combined results from these centers will be published, comparing the reoperation outcomes between patients treated with discectomy alone versus those treated with Barricaid®.

All participating institutions have received a departmental training on both the PANGEA Registry protocol as well as the Barricaid® implantation procedure. Standardized patient data collection takes place using REDCap, a secure web application that allows for simple and secure patient data capture.
